Arava and hydroxchloroquine

Hello, I have RA and until 6weeks ago I injected methotrexate which I could not tolerate. I am now on above medication. 100mg of arava to begin and 400mg of hydroxchloroquine.

Has anyone been put in this. I'm told it's the last one I can try after failing a few others

Regards dawn

Seems like 100mg for three days is a loading dose.

I started with 10mg then upped to 20mg. Just a different way of setting it up. Mine's not worked - I hope yours does!

I have been on 20 mg of Avara and 400 mg of Hydroxychloroquin for a few years with great success. The only side effect has been tingling of the feet about 4 months now. Going to have the nerves checked next week. This combo has worked the best for me!

Hiya Dawn. I'm taking Arava (leflunomide), 10mg, though double therapy with MTX. I've tried hydroxychloroquine (just over a year & my first DMARD) & sulfasalazine so in the same position, not sure where we'll go from here. Is that you dawnee28?

Hello yes it's me I couldn't get logged back into original website and had to start again. Must be brain fog lol. Had to choose a different user name, well I have just started the treatment but so far I have had no relief. I know it's early days but don't you just get fed up with the whole thing. My rheumatologist nurse told me that Avara and hydroxchloroquine is the last ones I can try. Where do we go from here, I just don't know, nice to hear from you again

Happy to know you're still here Dawn. It's the waiting with the meds, then the uncertainty, I understand but let's hope it's the one that sorts us & we've no need to bother about what if's. I'm not sure I'm responding to LEF, been on it since November but maybe it's a slow burner. HCQ worked a dream for me so hopefully you'll have good results too. x
