I've just had a phone call from my GP telling me my ALT is 132 and to omit my methotrexate this week. I also have laryngitis. I've noticed that whenever I have an infection my ALT goes up. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hi Jacey - Sorry - I only get the ALT tests done about every four months, and mine have been down now for a while.. I just didn't want you to go unanswered... =)
Thanks for the reply CaerylUSA. Glad yours is low and you only have to have bloods every 4 months. I have been having them every fortnight but have asked to have them repeated on Monday. I do feel fortunate that the NHS is taking care of me.
Thanks, and best of luck getting yours straight
The same happened to me yesterday and I am supposed to be having rituximab next Tuesday 🙃
I was about four days into an infection (heavy cold) at the beginning of January when I had my blood tested. My ALT measured 16. Neutrophils dropped below range (1.78) and CRP was the highest I've known it at 8.5. Everything else was within range. Two months later when I was feeling fine, ALT was 205! I blamed the Sulphasalazine in my case, but maybe it depends what kind of infection it is though?
