Hi Kamkam78,

I totally get you with the meds. I'm the same age as you and am going through a really pee'd off stage myself at the moment as well right now. I take humira and MTX too and I just end up dreading the weekly cycle as I get wiped out with the side effects of the drugs. That as well as going through a particularly bad spell right now - I totally empathise with the not able to walk down the road - seems like we are in the same sort of place. 😊

Not sure if you saw my post about hobbies? I'm finding I am losing a lot of my friends right now as they don't understand and don't know what to say.

This can really get you down, please feel free to PM me if you want a chat. Maybe we can support each other?

Take care x

I knew someone would see my post :) yup...I think we could be very supportive of each other. Do you ever feel like the mwds is making things worse?

:) I do in some ways but it's only when I've had to come off them that I realise that without them my condition is far far worse. So for now I will stick with it!!

I would like to no if Marijuana does help with the pain, I don't no , I can't try till it prescribed. If anyone takes it please share ,it's due to come into our doctor offices but not for awhile they say. Smoking is a no , but the pills and oils will be prescribed. I no I can buy the oil now , but it it a drug that will show up in a urine test. I can't walk anymore without severe pain. I'm a 4 mile everywhere day and rode my mountain bike hard . I lowed my life and my friends , but there all gone now..I'm 56 but feel I have alot of life to live , but not this way. I take a few more pain meds , but soon as I exercise or do any activity , like grocery shopping . It's is a nightmare. Can I be in your suport group at 56..I need a friend to. Loneliness is not what we need and this desease. Our ra meds keep our bones from being destroyed , but we need to fight for what will help our pain. So far there's nothing. I am sick right now also 7 days of a heavy flu like feeling and no energy. Add depression..I want at least to enjoy some kind of life

A word of caution here Kamkam, though I'm sure you know this. Cannabis (both legal and not) is sometimes used for pain relief, whereas drugs like Humira and MTX are disease modifying drugs. They slow down the progression of the disease, helping to prevent damage to bones. No painkiller has been proven to have this effect, though they can help with symptom control.

If you are struggling with the way Humira and MTX are making you feel, or concerned that they might not be working well enough for you, I would encourage you to discuss this with your rheumatologist/rheumatology nurse. You could also discuss the best painkiller to use with your doctor, if you feel the one you are taking isn't working well enough for you. Have a discussion with them about how you take it as well (i.e. how regularly) as this can also make a difference.

Pain medication can help alongside these drugs, but would never be an adequate replacement, as it isn't doing the same thing.

I hope you find a good regime that works for you and am glad you are getting support from people on the forum so that you know you are not alone.

Kind regards

Victoria

Im 100% with Victoria and if you already recognise depression weed will potentially make that worse causing you to take more or stronger weed and you feed your own problem. Dont go that route without serious thought or appropriate supervision.

Blessings

Please understand that I am not promoting canabis, but I believe knowledge is a good thing to share. I only share reputable University studies that are being held around the world on RA. So I just thought I should inform you that Dalhousie university that is located in Nova Scotia, Canada is doing a clinical trial on the benefits of canabis for RA. It is being funded by Health Canada and the Canadian Arthritis society.Having said this, nothing has been proven yet and I don't think people should self medicate without the approval of their doctors. Medical canabis is available in Canada and this does bring problems to my city too.

Sounds like your in a hell of your own, the tramadol is pretty good but has to get into your system, which is a pain. If it's not working maybe ask ya doc to refer you to the Rheumatoid doctor, he can't refuse you unless he/she gives you a good enough reason not to. Have you ever thought about calling the Samaritans on free phone 116123 all in total confidence, they are very good at listening and hen help put things into prospective with you and they are 24/7 helpline and if you pop in to a branch you just mite get a brew too but no wackbacky lol. Keep well and let's hope things get better this year than last.
