I have been taking Mtx 20mg by injection for about 6 months. Nearly every morning I wake up with a blocked nose which clears in about 30 minutes, Does anyone know if this is a side effect of the Mtx?

Blocked Nose in The Morning With Mtx
Hi Mole
Most of the meds for RD can cause sinusitis. I have had 4 biologicals and had sinusitis with most. Only one was really severe which meant I had to come off the meds. I have nasonex from my GP especially taken before taking the meds. The other method my Rehumy advised to take an over the counter antihistamine the night before my meds. But of course you should check these with your doctor to make sure you have no problems.
Hope this helps

I get that too - it's pretty constant though? Doesn't seem to lift during the day . Not sure if it's related to methotrexate ( I take 20mg oral) Or not? Not pleasant at all!
Yes I can relate to that get sinus probs all the time I take Benepali Bisomar 50mgs and mtx 20mgs
I have a blocked nose in the mornings too since starting biologics. Although it was worse when I was on Humira and Enbrel. I also get very itchy skin so take Fexofenadine hydrochloride 180mg each morning. My blocked nose doesn't last long. Although since starting the tocilizumab my nose bleeds when I blow it first thing or if I have a cold. But I think the benefits of the meds outweigh both the itching and the nose thing. You could ask the doctor for an antihistamine or a nose spray.
I have had this for about 15 years without the meds plus sneezing and coughing up phlegm. When I took a DMARD, it was a thousand times worse and I had a heavy nose bleed and was coughing up blood plus severe upper back pain. I had to stop after three weeks the first time which was in the depths of the winter. I tried again last summer and it wasn't much worse - it was a very hot summer.
It is actually a cold virus that is also affecting the sinuses - the DMARDS lower your natural immunity and render you liable to catch colds and infections.
I too have dried nose. Worse in the am but pretty continuous. I use a nasal cleaner every morning and coconut oil is it gets too uncomfortable and it works! I take methotrexate but not sure if it is a side effect.
