Why do dogs....

Always charge right into my flipping legs??

When out walking my collie we onvariably meet up with other canines. They play and chase each other, and then charge right into my legs! Twenty other people could be in the vicinity, and it's always my legs they head for! I have been knocked over three times. It's agony.

Stop it you dogs!! I must look like a fat two legged canine to them. I was almost knocked over again this morning. Ouch!!!

In the middle of a large field at the beginning of October my sons collie managed to take me out and put me down. Crashed into the back of my legs and down I went - of course on my replaced knee side, all I can remember thinking whilst falling was 'got to get my leg out straight'. Had to stay sat in the middle of the field until my OH came back. Fortunately it was all OK but was on crutches again for a while whilst the leg recovered. I have a rather large stick with me now when I take him out and try not to take my eyes off him. I don't need to touch him but gives me a buffer to put in front of him if he does come charging up too quickly. Farm

2 of my dogs greet you by wiggling between your legs to get a good back scratch. If you aren't quick enough they can knock you off your feet. They are tall too so only just fit! beware all men! (They only do it to people they like and trust, so it is an honour really!)

Not the knocking you off your feet whilst out though! that hurts.

Ours indulge in 'zoomies' and you have to watch out for the direct run! (12 dogs running at you is a bit daunting! and thats just our own, if we meet up with friends there could be quite a few!). Actually the more the less chance of being hit they are too busy playing! We sit on the fence and leave them to exercise themselves.

(ps we avoid non doggy or small dog areas as people get intimidated!)

They like you? :-)

Hmmm - Dogs are usually much better judges of character. And you may be a unique person.

I have had some extremely close friends in my life that "other people" couldn't really tolerate because they were different. One had a tendency to be pretty snarky and negative, but when I got to know her, I found it was mostly at work (we were consultants together). The reason she would react that way is because she was the engagement manager for numerous engagements and that meant that she was responsible for the end result of the projects. I was one of the consultant she never had to ride or correct, so we became good friends. Others - meh - not so much...
