Hi welcome to our happy home, it is your turn to make tea, no sugar in mine ty. You'll be ok, there's lots and lots and lots and lots of great and lovely peeps here who can advise you BUT don't believe anyone who tell you about limbs falling off because of some medicines.

Welcome. I feel so blessed to have found this wonderful group of supportive people. It is helpful to have individuals who directly identify with your experiences. I was diagnosed one year ago. It is a journey to find the best treatment and what works for one person may not work as well for another. I wish you the best and can tell you that the people in this online group are sympathetic and helpful. God bless. Lorin.

Best advice I can give is don't panic....take it bit by bit as you'll need to be patient. And don't believe all the awful stories you read on Doctor Google - stick to reputable sites like NRAS.org.uk , NHS choices and arthritis research UK. May of us live full, productive and (nearly) pain free lives without RA and you can too in time.

Welcome to our happy group of people who all have Arthur in their life. Be patient as it will take time for the meds to start working and sometimes the first lot of meds your given won't work and you will have to have something else and you might find more added as well.

We are a great bunch of people who love a laugh as well especially about our diseases. xxxxx

Hi Summer

Welcome and please tell us some of your story. What happened in your build up to diagnosis?

Have you got as far as a Specialists appointment yet?

Hope you are coping? Look forward to hearing more.

Very best to you.

Welcome, Summer, sorry you are here but it is a great site with lots of sensible support. Use us, we all have our good days and not so good but the support on this site is really very special.

My advice would be to build a good relationship with your rheumy nurse and consultant they are obviously invaluable. Eat well, and listen to your body when you are tired rest, do what exercise you can.

It is a long journey and can be trial and error to find a suitable treatment but you will receive support on this site you only have to ask.

This site has been sp useful for me and hubby. Sorry you've joined the club but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone's experience varies and it's finding the meds that will help you. It's not a quick fix. But you'll get there. Sue x

Hi,

I was diagnosed just over two years ago,and I wish I'd found this site earlier,as although I've finally found a med that is working for me,at times it has been a very long and sometimes distressing journey - if I'd known about this site it certainly would've helped put a lot of my fears to bed right away. Even now,I still have lots of questions, and it's always good to speak to people who truly understand everything you're going through,it really does make all the difference, and I can't thank this group enough - even just reading through some of the posts has made me realise I'm not alone and there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. Stay strong, and whenever you feel low, just pop on here and someone will always be about to help and advise.

I wish you all the best in finding some peace and your sanity again(if you're anything like me,it felt like I lost it several times since diagnosis)

Good luck

Dear Summer65,

Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis but pleased that you've found the HU site. There's lots of support on here and the posts are monitored by the NRAS team as well. If you haven't seen it already, we have a booklet called 'Newly Diagnosed' which you may find helpful. nras.org.uk/publications/ne...

There's lots of information on the website nras.org.uk and we have a freephone Helpline as well (Mon-Fri 9.30am-4.30pm 0800 298 7650) if you have any queries at all or just want to talk to someone in person).

Best wishes
