Got bitten lots of times by Meadow ticks.

Anyone any advice. No bite is septic or oozing. just red spots. have put on aloe vera, anti-histamine and hydrocortisone cream - a combined one. All on legs

I'm not quite sure what meadow ticks are, as we have deer ticks and black ticks. But if you removed all the ticks promptly, so they weren't feeding off you for hours then you should be fine. And then there's not much else you can do apart from what you're already doing.

Hi,

I would get them checked and watch for any changes in the bites appearances and any red swelling going up from the site. Ticks can carry various diseases including Lyme disease so again best to get them checked just to be sure.

Never seen so many before of these little black beetles. Got an appointment at 12.10. today so quite pleased. I was going there anyway. They just swarmed in. covering doors etc.

Just looked it up, and there is a meadow tick that can now be found in UK. But if the little blighters were swarming, ie flying, then they weren't ticks. And ticks don't hang around in groups on doors, they lie in wait in grass and trees. So less to worry about.

That is what the locals called them. Little beetles.

Oh I assumed that you'd been out walking a dog or such like... I wonder where the little blighters came from?

Not sure what they are but ticks don't have wings so can't fly. They're of the arachnid family & attach themselves by the mouth part to suck blood so not really a biter so much as a hanger on! Maybe it's something the locals call a meadow tick but not actually one?

We used to have to check the dogs regularly when we lived abroad & always when the goats came up the valley as they'd ride on them, have their fill, walk off & crawl into the garden to find their way onto the dogs.

They are Meadow ticks, the field is above and the houses on a hill, so the clouds come downward with the wind. Not actually flying and then they land on peoples doors seem to attracted to white. When you open the door/window in they pour and then they bite. GP said cortisone cream etc, none of them look infected. He did add "I must taste nice". Laughing I left him. Honestly I could do without this when the funeral is only next week. Want my legs to mend.

Ah, so blown by the wind. Pleased you've no infection, they can be tricky things to get off without leaving the mouth part. Not been on much lately so didn't know about the funeral, sorry, hope things go as well as they can.
