Hi, that must have been scary, sometimes after strokes or small called a T I A, these unfortunately can and do cause memory problems, so if your worried please go to your GP and tell her/him about your worries. Keep us posted, only because we are all nosy. Not really lol but in the morning see the person who knows everything"
Take care and don't worry to much.
Philip
The Dr who seen me in the hospital said it was because of me blood in me head was to thick to go though the vines to the brain and clots up. So he put me on blood thinner.
Sorry to read that you have had these TIAs yes ive definately had 2 maybe 3 and i forgot things too but soon after they started to come back, everyone has different outcomes and different recoveries but as my doctor pointed out to me "you may never have another one". I know its easy to say but trying hard may help you, worrying about it certainly wont.
I try not to think about it but then I forget something so simple like a phone number I always call. That's when I just hang up the phone and walk off to go find something else to do.
I lost some words completely like i had to say small fried potatoes because i could find the word "chips", my friend found when he tried to say runner beans it came out "burger sprouts" but he didnt know that until runner beans came up in conversation 6 months after his TIA. Some bizzare things happen but then pass and some go un- noticed, depression is common and happened to me but for no reason i could figure and it passed again, same with lethargy. All in all you just seem to adapt what you can change and put up with what you cant. But there really is no point in worrying or giving yourself a hard time over what you cant change.
You must have been in a terrible state with worry about what happened to you darling. I forget things, but that is because i have more than one disease wrong with me. I am sure your memory will sort itself out after you have recovered from this episode and you will probally not forget things then. I hope you soon recover darling.xxxxxxx
Oh hun, you have been having a rough time lately. So sorry to hear this.
Hopefuly your memory will come back soon and then you can look upon this year as "the year to forget".
Sending you my love and well wishes
Sue
Thank you
Thank you. And can not wait to forget this year
Hi Hurt what type of medication you use for RA?
What medication you use for your RA ?
Hi hope your memory comes back soon, I've RA and OA and I get memory problems as well and it can be annoying when it happens
I've had clots and in my lungs so not TIA but did endanger life. So I'm sorry you've had theses strokes but you can only go by properly qualified medical advice. I take Riveroxaban for life as the risk of clots is higher with RA and have had superficial ones in both arms they are painful but harmless. lol
My mum had strokes and made a full recovery in time and with a lot of had work and effort. So just keep on living and why worry about a bit of memory loss, heck it comes with age and some things I'd like to forget. xx
If your on Warefin ask about Riveroxaban or Apixaban as both allow plotters to live a normal life, no special diet no blood tests and no side effects, for most people. I' think the worst thing about clots is the worry that it might happen again with RA you know its there all the time but clots are silent so do please talk to your consultant Haemo if you've got one or ask for a referral to the stroke clinic for a lot of helpful advice. Incuding NHS direct but don't listen to the scare stories about not being able to stem the bleeding with these new meds I promise you it takes a bit longer to heal but thats all and those little red pills are just great.
The RA can also cause brain fog. Periods of confusion, poor recall etc. It is also a side affect to many drugs used to treat RA. Talk to your doctor.
I've had a humungous amount of mini strokes and high blood pressure but unfortunately it caused small vessel disease which in turn had brought on Vascular Dementia, so please you need to get some help ASAP. (As soon as possible)
