In the story, Ailsa discusses her RA, the difficulties she faced, how it flared up after her daughter was born and the lack of treatment options available back then.
She also talks about her work ambitions and how she was determined to not let anyone with RA go through it alone, which led her to start the charity in 2001.
Ailsa was recently awarded with an MBE and is currently nominated for a Sue Ryder's Award for her remarkable contributions to the community.
We take this opportunity to salute Ailsa, and all the other women (and men) who battle through RA everyday.
