Hi all, was wondering if anyone had any good advice. I am having a pip assessment soon and was wondering if any one could give me some advice on how to get through this. Have rheumatoid arthritis and a blocked artery in calf, awaiting an operation when get through hospital queues.

Hi Masy Mae,

In the Search health unlocked box in the top right hand corner, type in Pip and the press return and all the previous pip related posts will come up for you to read.

HI masymae,

there has been a lot of discussion on here recently about PIP. I have also put a link below to our publication on PIP (if you haven't seen it already):

I always use the Benefits and Work website - they have lots good advice. Good luck, watch the curve ball questions.

One thing I would do is concentrate on information pertaining to your RD, how it affects you. Your blocked artery whilst an issue now once it's operated on will be fixed, in the DWP's eyes this will be seen as temporary so won't be considered relevant evidence for PIP.

Have a re-read of your application form, just to serve as a reminder of how you answered as the questions are based on your tick box choices & any additional information you submitted. I took a copy of mine with me in case I needed to refer to it whilst being assessed.

Use the run up time to collate any further evidence you have or any changes to your repeat prescriptions since submitting your form, these can be handed to the assessor to send along with your report to the DWP.

As much as it may be difficult it's important that you're honest, tell it like it is. You may find it a reality check accepting how things are but if you don't the assessor isn't able to assess you appropriately.

Be aware that from the moment you're called through to the assessment room this is when your assessment starts. Also, whilst being asked the questions & you answering you're being observed for any discomfort or things you can or can't do.

Don't forget to take proof of identification & ask for a claim form for travel expenses. I posted on how mine went, if you think a read of it may be helpful you'll find it here healthunlocked.com/nras/pos....

Good luck & do keep us updated.

Be aware that they have cameras watching you get out of the car and walking to assessment centre.
