Hydroxychloroquine - take in AM or PM?
Hi I'm on sulphsalize and started hydroxychloroquine a few months ago. I take 2, 200mg tablets per day, 1 in the morning and the other at dinner time. I've never had any side effects whatsoever, not sure if it's doing me any good but it's definitely doesn't appear to be doing me any harm. Hope you have a similar experience with it, take care.
I also take 200mg in the morning, and the other pill in the evening. I have never had any bad side effects. Just make sure that you have an eye test before starting, and that you have regular checks as long as you are on it. Hope it helps you. Mx
It will be trial and error. Personally I take in the evening after our main meal on the thinking that it is after a good meal and any side effects should have worn off overnight or occur whilst I am asleep. I can only tolerate 200mg so it is only 1 tablet and have been taking it around a year with no side effects although I also take omeprazole because of regular ibuprofen. Farm
I take 200mg one day & 400mg the next. The days I take 2 tablets, I take them both together first thing in the morning. The only thing I have found that makes a difference is food. Taken on an empty stomach = horrible headache. Taken with food = no headache.
I take it in morning as I don't sleep , it's taken away a lot of my fatigue , but am having hearing issues so only on 200 mg till they decide whether it's being caused by meds .
As hearing loss is a rare side effect and hearing loss only started when I started on meds.

I take mine morning and evening (200mg each time) and can't report any effect - positive or negative - with them.
I do have hearing aids and surprised to read you have hearing loss - my own suggestion is to seek other intervention as hearing loss is not nice. Mine is a familial loss with some DJ'ing thrown about 15 years ago.
I do hope you get other meds and that your hearing recovers. Best of luck with it.
I am waiting to see ENT specialist in Jan , I have reactive arthritis, sjorgrens, looking into lupus as have organ issues, and fibro
Have 6 consultants all reporting to rhumatolgist, according to gynaecologist being better looked after than a Ferrari 😊
Crickey! I hope all that goes well for you.
Go for reliability over sleek looks - if you get the choice! :-0
Oh everything's just taken one day at a time , everyone's worrying enough ,I am not going to start ,it's not going o make things better ,so I just trust they will do there jobs right ,
I wish some told me that 30 years ago . 😀
I got septaciuma 5 years ago after going to dentist and apparently had a environmental trigger to everything .

I used to take one in the morning and one in the evening. Was never told to take them together so just spread them out. I never got any bad side effects from them
Hi, I take one in the morning & one in the evening always with food.
I take mine after breakfast, not had any problems.
I take one with breakfast and one with dinner. I have really bad diarrhea with mine. The doctor stopped it for 3 months and diarrhea got some better, but my joints got way worse, so we made the decision that I could live with the diarrhea and he put me back on it. It's really the pits when it wakes me up out of a dead sleep at night! But once I didn't wake up and that was a whole different story! UGH! I just take Immodium if I have to leave the house and it works at stopping it. So I'm thankful for that!
