I have been on leflunomide for over three years and have never had any but that's not to say other people have not. These drugs do seam to work be different on some people. Sorry can not help you more. Hopefully somebody else can help you on here.

I don't get abscesses as such, more like cysts. I was tested for thyroid disorders and diabetes as these can cause them but they came back clear. Haven't mentioned it to specialist but now I see you've had a similar problem I think I will. I don't take leflunomide though, just HCQ

I get abscesses every time I have milk or anything to do with milk or cow/beef. I do not take any medicines at all. They appear a day after ingestion, and last up to a few weeks. Before I knew what caused them they would have a lifetime of around a year, getting larger until they erupted like a volcano. I am very careful what I eat now but sometimes I get caught out.

I had years of boils, carbuncles and abscesses. It wasn't until a doctor finally swabbed them that I discovered I was harbouring MRSA (a drug resistant bug). Once that finally got treated with the right combination of antibiotics including a nasal cream (because the nose is a key place for harbouring this bug) I never had problems like that again.

I would therefore suggest that if it hasn't been done, you ask for your abscesses to be swabbed and sent for "culture and sensitivity" - that means they culture the bugs, then test which antibiotics they are sensitive to.
