Oh Jora, what a wee beauty. Don't you just melt when they lay back and lift their wee paws like that? XX
Yes, and also when they cover their eyes with their paws. Sooooo sweet! x
So cute, I wish I could have a pet where I live. x
What a shame you can't have a pet, Angel Delight. They are so therapeutic.
Love Mabel, she looks very content. No More Heels said I should check out your hair after taking medication. I am due to start Mtx soon, so just want some reassurance. Great that our pets make others and ourselves so valued and loved. Can't beat that now!
Oh mabel is gorgeous, how did I miss this pic? I have a darker version of mabel, called Mitzi. Cats are so gentle and therapeutic, good medicine for rheumatoid!!
Yes, Mabel is gorgeous, so therapeutic. But I've just discovered that the care-worker has been feeding her bowls of treats instead of regular dry food. She has put on a huge amount of weight in a week!
Hair. Mine was always fine, but I had quite a lot of it. It was slightly wavy, completely white ( from quite a young age) and in good condition. On methotrexate, it certainly thinned a bit, but Folic Acid 6 days a week ( ie not on methotrexate day) minimised the loss. I use an organic shampoo (with Aargan oil), condition well and wash it less often than I used to. It has become very curly which disguises the relative sparseness. In fact, I get a lot of compliments on it. I don't try to tame the curls, but just let them be, or even encourage them. I remind myself of Mabel Lucy Atwell's illustrations! It is definitely the MTX which causes the curling ( whilst uncurling my joints). I had to stop the drug recently, because of an infection and the hair straightened out. My hair has also taken on a baby blonde hue, but I'm not sure if this is the MTX or the shampoo.
I hope that helps. Jo
Thanks Jora, My daughter swears by Argan Oil, will have to borrow some of hers! I shall definitely ask the nurse on Monday when I visit for the first time, about the Folic Acid even 3-4 times a week. Worth a try anyway, can't do any harm!
Mabel is probably giving the care worker 'the charm meow and flashing those eyes'. Pets do that to us, sometimes hard to say no to them, but sure, gotta watch her weight.... as I have to. Swear my dog loves custard creams, how can they tell?
