I am new to this site and just wanted to say a quick hello. I was diagnosed with RD two years ago after years of pain. I started taking Mtx and folic but I lost a lot of hair and felt terrible. I stopped them and I am now taking Sulfasalazine, I am still in a lot of pain and not getting much sleep at the mo.

How long have you been taking sulfa - it does take a while to build up in your system and work. If you have been taking it for over 4 months a call to your rheumy nurse explaining your situation and a meds review may be necessary. Most rheumatology departments run a helpline - numbers and times can usually be found on your clinic report letter or hospital website. Unfortunately it can take some time to find the right combination of drugs to control you as none of us want to take more or stronger drugs than absolutely necessary. Little sleep and pain create a vicious circle. Farm

Hi Farm, I have been taking it since September. I was also prescribed Amitriptyline but had to stop taking it as I have high pressure behind the eyes. I had a steroid injection 2 weeks ago but it hasn't made any difference yet.
