Methotrexate, steriods & getting hair permed

Just wondered if anyone has experienced hair permed as I'm booked in tomorrow.

Hiya Brit2013. I am afraid I have no idea on the answer and if no-one on here has any experience, you could always phone NRAS helpline. I've found them very helpful. Sorry can't be if more help. Happy Sunday.

Not sure with this one! MTX affected my hair whilst on tablets, not heavy loss but certainly more in my brush when styling. What would bother me is if it was a chemical perm, if you need to have a perm I would ask your hairdresser's advice, if she's happy to do it she may use a natural organic one which would be less harsh. MTX can affect the hair follicles hence the loss with some people but personally I would avoid anything which may cause any more damage if you've had any hair loss because of MTX.

Thank you will ring the hairdresser tomorrow I've not had a skin test for perms in the past not had much hair loss since taking the mtx only the usual that I've always lost. I know a perm didn't take while pregnant but that's to do with hormones.

you should have had the skin test done by your hairdresser ,you can sometimes get poor results if on medication you could ask for a test curl to see the results ,a good salon will talk to you before treatment
