Hi all, been poorly for a bit now and fed up of it! Had chest infection, ear and throat infection which turned into breathless and pain in chest wall and ribs. Eventually went in for tests and all good ie no heart lung problems but I have really bad costocondritis. Have any of you got experience of this? Thanks in advance and hope you are all well xx A

Oh Allanah i really feel for you,as i am on antibiotics for my chest. I haven't had any x-rays,but my dr did sound my heart. I am at the rheumy next week so i am sure i will speak to her about it. Big gentle hugs darling and i hope you soon feel brighter darling.xxxxx

Allanah, sorry you have been so poorly. I can sympathise with you re. Chostocondritis because I also suffer from this. Three yrs ago following a really bad chest infection I started with this awful pain, left side chest. I really did thing it was my heart! It was then they a heart murmur was discovered which had nothing to do with this pain, just found by accident. Anyway, the wretched pain continued for months, I used to put brufen gel on my rib cage area, but did not seem to help much. Took about six months to go away. Even now I get spells of pain and dread getting coughs and colds because the strain of coughing always seems to start the pain. Hope this is not too depressing to hear my tale !! Hope you feel better soon, lynda xxxx

It is hellish being constantly ill I know. Poor you it just goes on and on for you. I was told I have Costochondritis last year when in hospital for a heart scare. Mine is mild but it really hurts if anyone examines me around the bottom of my rib cage. It is benign I was told but it doesn't feel that way! Xx

hope you recover soon sounds very painful x

Yup, I had a bout of it early on. Much sympathy as it hurts like £&@7%#. Hope it doesn't last long. No running marathons for you right now....

Sorry no Allanah but with all that's been going on the last few months you're obviously at an all time low. I hope you look after yourself, or rather they're looking after you now! Not had it myself but heard it really hurts. I keep telling my h he had costochondritis though I know damn well it isn't. Don't think he's fooled though!

I hope it passes quickly or at least eases then you can enjoy Christmas. x

Sorry to hear this A. Never had this problem, but know someone who has, and it's pretty painful I gather.

My love and support goes out to you Allanah, brave lady. Have you tried hot or cold compress on the chest and rib pain, whichever feels better for you? Also are you taking anti-inflammatories to help with that awful pain. Sending you lots of TLC and hope you feel a bit better soon.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling too well at all, Allanah. Hugs to you and gentle ones, given the ribs problem. I believe I get some of that from time to time worsened when I press down hard with my stick to go upstairs or walk outside etc. I thought it was my bra too tight at first!! .. then could trace pain and sensitivity through my ribs etc., as you describe even when not pressing or touching hard. It is intermittent thank goodness and not all the time and seems to be more related to when using the stick. Hard to say whether mine is this. I just put it down to another wonky arthritic part of me! Chest has been xrayed in Spring pre Rituximab and heart tested. I hope you can soon feel better and that you can get back on track for Christmas. Love NK xx

Right.....now your time to rest up & direct people from your bed!

Christmas stuff will wait,

Cards - I've been doing mine a few at a time on my cushioned tray in my recliner,

Daughter's 18th - if it needs to be planned now your h will have to take control, following strict written instructions of course!

Let go of the reigns for a weekend & rest up til you hear back from the hospital......please.x

Sorry you're having such a bad time, you've really been through the mill lately. I agree with nmh, you're just going to have to concentrate on getting yourself well, and be looked after. I know it's difficult when you are used to running everything, but your health must come first.

I do hope things improve over the weekend.

Look after yourself. M x

This disease is very selfish, it takes all your plans away at the drop of a hat. Take the opportunity Allanah to delegate so you can get your health back on track. You have such a lovely family and they will understand and help you.Thinking of you x
