I am looking for a health insurance plan that takes pre-existing health issues, with a low dectuctible, low office visit and a low premium, (by that I mean under 500 a month) I am in Nebraska. I am a self pay. Anybody have any health insurance like that or know of any?

Hi Samantha, I don't know what the private health system is like in the USA. We have private health companies here in the UK who normally won't cover you for pre existing conditions or will only cover you after 2 years with no treatment or hospital admissions.

I think you need to go on line to the various companies in the USA and see what their terms are.

Loret is in USA - she might be able to help. Best wishes. LavendarLady x

Hi Samantha, There are some, if not all, insurance companies offering policies, with pre-existing conditions, as I believe that has just become law this year. I am really not very well informed re: Health insurance, as I am on Medicare, with Supplimental insurance that picks up a percentage of what Medicare doesn't pay.

Mutual of Omaha is a very large company, nationwide, they might have something reasonable. Also United, which is a combination of insurance companies.

Best chance would be to look in the yellow pages for Insurance salesmen, specializing in Health care, and call, see what they have to offer.

There is a large selection of policies out there. I just recently switched from my first Medicare Suppliment to another, that saved me $94/month in premium, yet has exactly the same benefits. Haven't had to use it yet. That is Anthem, they carry Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, another likely good chance.

Hope some help, good luck Loretx

Hi Samantha, I live in Nebraska too, Lincoln. I have been trying to get a good insurance too. I tried Mutual of Omaha, they ask for your medication list & turned me down just off of that info. Several other Co's have done that to me too.

The insurance I found is pretty bad, the limit for Dr's visits is $250 for a year. One appt is over & above that amount, and the monthly amount for the insurance is more than that, so it doesn't make sense to have it. I think that I'll just stay without insurance for another year & a half & then I can get Medicare. (I'm on disability).

There are some free or very low services in Lincoln-I've found. They only have them at certain days & times & I've been told that it's 1st come 1st served.

I have not tried any myself, except for the Community Mental Health Center-for my anti-depressants. They have a sliding fee, for uninsured, unemployed, etc. It's less than $5 a visit.

Good luck, & if you want to meet sometime, maybe we can pool our answers.

I am in Illinois and I have given up on trying to get insurance. Legally now they cannot turn you down for pre-existing conditions but they can charge an ungodly amount for the premiums. Most that I found were about three hundred a month. No specialists visits paid or primary care Doctors. Deductible was five thousand dollars. No coverage for medications. I decided to just wait it out. I have been on disability now for a year and half so be medicare eligible soon. State Aid is useless for single adults. They want to have all your assets if they pay anything. I applied through the local hospital for their charity program and go to a low cost clinic. It has been really hard getting used to having a good paying job to collecting ss disability. Wiped out my savings and retirement plan in less than a year for medical expenses. Good luck and keep looking. Try searching online for comparison sites. Sue
