I experience hand spasms when I grip miscellaneous items. They come and go. I'll be fine then the attacks come back then suddenly stop. Why?

I don't what is causing the spasms in my hands. The attacks are painful. I'll be fine for a month or two then suddenly, without warning, I get them. It will last for days then stop.

helloref52, you do not say if your hands are r/d deformed, mine are very badly deformed and I also get painful spasms when holding a cup or gripping, (not that there is much grip. unlike yours, mine only last for about 2-3 mins: I should ask your g.p. for a blood test and tell him about this. all the best

my spasms (and not just in my hands) are always related to a flare of inflammation. Its showing me that my disease is not under good enough control, or is flaring through meds again. Make sure your doctor knows that this is happening and how often.
