Wrist/Hand support....
Worth trying the occupational therapist at your clinic/hospital. At least that would be free, and even if not perfect, would give you an idea of what is best for you. Mx
I am not worried about paying if it eases the pain....struggling to type as we speak lol x
Well worth seeing the OT at the hospital - I have a fab one who has given me lots of different splints to try!
I think it's a case of finding something to suit you.
My OT was amazing!
Wellgate Perfect Fit Wrist Support. From amazon, I love these ones, very comfortable and not so obvious looking. I also took the bar out which gave me the right support without restrictions. Also, easy to wash. I promise I,m not a sales rep for them
Thanks everyone!
The best wrist support I have EVER had is one I picked up from Aldi. They don't have them on very often but its worth keeping an eye open for them
I have used Thermoskin products from time to time.
The wrist support with the brace was great at night when my RA was active and causing carpal tunnel problems due to the way my arms folded while sleeping.
The "normal" elastic support has been useful for general use. The wrap design makes it easy to adjust the amount of support and fit.

If it is just support on your wrist you need then I find the wrap around ones quite good, I bought mine in Spain and they are actually for sports but you should be able to get them here.
My occupational therapist is attatched to my rhumatology team. They are great at making the right one for you. Try and see if your rhumatology nurse will get you reffered to see yours. Mine have made loads for me over the years as my needs have changed.
Best of luck
Judy
I get mine from the hospital I have found the new foam type ones not very good compared to the material ones I got when I was first diagnosed
I have a hard time finding one that fits or doesn't rub my thumb raw. I have to get the extra-smalls and some braces don't come in that size. I do like the Wellgate ones, that AKAwiliby mentioned, they are silver and white and have easy to use velcro.

HI, you can get splints made at your local OT department. I have driving splints, splints for hanging out my washing, resting splints moulded for my hands and wrists. They are fab and help me so much in every day tasks. Really worth asking your GP or RA consultant to refer you. At least if you see an OT they are made for your hands and wrists. Hope you get fixed out soon M.
I too have found that a variety of supports/splints are needed for different situations. The physio bended and moulded the metal sticks in the glove supports for me and they were great for when my wrists were really bad years ago and they were the best general all round ones I found for during the day and using with walking sticks. I had some huge perforated plastic things with velcro strapping which were custom moulded/made for me. In the early day of RA they kept my hands perfectly positioned and supported overnight in bed but were lethal if you clonked them against your body in the night. Ouch! These days elastic tubing or old fashioned tennis woven wrist supports are mostly what I need.
I'm another fan of Wellgate wrist supports. I've also got the NHS supports but they're not comfortable and tend to make my hands sweaty. I find the Wellgate supports are great for the gym or work. I've popped a link on so you can see what they're like but shop around for the best prices as they do vary a lot. healthandcare.co.uk/wrist-s...
I always found that a simple sports elastic wrist band worked well for me. Bought from Tesco. Kept the joint warm and gave just enough support so I could move it a little
