Woke up this morning (and also during the night) with one third of my upper arm bright red and swollen, very hot and very itchy. This afternoon at least 50% of arm is bright red etc etc. Will keep an eye on it and if it gets even bigger will go to Emergency. Have taken photos as I see consultant on Wed

Oh Grace, that sounds terrible!
It does sound as though Enbrel may not be the right one for you. Have you tried rubbing some antihistamine cream into it? It's a bit of a stab in the dark advise wise but it may help.
I hope you get something sorted out next week.
Take care

Gave up and went ot A&E as the swelling was going into armpit and beyond. They gave me an injection and some anti histamine to calm things down. Now feel like I was run over by a bus. They said it would me make a little sleepy. So PG looks like Rheumy will have to find a new drug for me on Wed depends on what's available over here,

unfortunately I don't have a RA nurse over here, have helpline and can ring my consultant directly but I don't like to unless it is an emergency
Hi
Have you tried your thigh. The injection works best into fatty tissue (there's less fatty tissue in your arm). Also I got site reaction for the first 12 wks of using enbrel, like what you described plus the severe itchiness. I don't get any now.
Speak to your rheumy team - good luck

Thigh hurt like hell for meas no fatty tissue there. Arms much more fat. About 60% of whole arm was bright red burning and itching like crazy, still is. So I think it;s a little more than a site reaction, see consultant tonght.
