Does anyone know if it is possible to change your rheumatologist to a different hospital? Im only asking as i have been recommended by a friend who also had severe RA that her one is really helpful and kind (which is exactly what you need with this disease!) ...
Hello. I didnt hav the best rheumy appointment recent... - NRAS
Hello. I didnt hav the best rheumy appointment recently as i didnt get the one i requested to see and got registrar instead.
I did change my Rheumy as I stopped work and I changed to my local hospital . I think I asked my Gp if I remember. However I'm thinking of getting another Rheumy as though this one is clever the last two appointments have left me and hubby upset.
So hope you get a better one soon xx
Hi there i was pushed from pillar to post for a couple of years and saw all different rheumy nurses/doctors who didn't have a clue about my health issues. It would take me half the appointment to explain my concerns...anyway I complained to a department within the hospital who look after patients who aren't having the right care. Within a few weeks I was referred to a different hospital with a consultant who looked at all my notes saw me every few months did every test and reassured me...i would see him again. I came away with a more positive outlook. I felt I was listened to cared for and seeing the same consultant makes it a lot easier on both sides instead of been pushed from one to the other...who haven't a clue whats going on...so good luck it's possible to change....hope you find one....xxxx
Hi Joo, I wasn't happy with my first rheumy either. My friend has psa and she recommended her consultant. I went to my gp and asked to be referred to my friends consultant and even though this was out of area, they made the referral and I have been seeing the same consultant now for a couple of years now. It didn't seem difficult and the gp was happy to do this for me. Good luck and I hope you get something sorted as there's nothing like not having faith in the person whose meant to be looking after you. Rx
You have a right to a second opinion, and your GP should be able to arrange this. Good luck, I hope you find the right person!
You could also contact PALS at your hospital - it shouldn't matter that you want to move, they can inform the relevant body who will then contact you. Well that's how I did it anyway.
Yes u can ichanged but if u are out of area the downside is support services u ca nt get eg physio and ot .it works for me good luck x
Thanks everyone, thats great to know !
