Cough & cold

Hi, I am supposed to start methotrexate on Monday, but I have caught a slight cold and cough. Should I delay the MTX until it has gone or seek advice from Rheumy nurse?

I have always been told to delay if I have an infection. Suggest you do both!

I would definitely talk to dr before taking Methatrexate with a cold and sore throat. I had done something similar and developed pneumonia.

If you are taking tablets you could phone the RA Nurse and tell her you have a cold, probably she will defer treatment

If it is an injection the same applies, folic acid doses will need to change accordingly.

Thank you all for your comments, I will ring docs on Monday and the Rheumy nurse for their advice. Haven't started them yet, but was going to on Monday.
