Hello there,

I just wanted to say welcome to the site, I'm sorry I don't know whether there's a link between diabetes, eye stroke and RA, hopefully someone else here will know. Take care, Fran

thankyou for your reply

I have wondered about the diabetes link. I think some of the drugs might sort of cause diabetes, like steroids, which make you put on weight, which risks diabetes. Also, inactivity caused by RA causes weight gain, and hence diabetes.

But this is my own guess work. About a year ago I gave up all sugar, and sweeteners, and white carbohydrates, in the hope I don't get diabetes.

Hope someone can tell us if there truly is a link.

Steroid use puts you at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. My surgery now check my blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels annually.
