Mouth ulcers?: Hi, does anyone else on Sulfasalazine... - NRAS
Mouth ulcers?
I got them at the end of last year, and yes drove me nuts. I found that rinsing my mouth with Eludril helped, or salt water, and sucking boots sugar free throat lozenges that have an anaesthetic in them. However, for me it was the MTX that seemed to be the culprit rather than Sulpha, and once I swapped to injectable MTX they thankfully went away. Polly
Yes I used to get them I use cordysel mouth wash and it helped clear them up.
I had some when I started Sulfa but they went after a while & all's been well since. They are infuriating but hopefully yours will be just a blip too. Have you just started the Sulfa? x
Agree with RA-fibro, cordysel is very good and what dentists prescribe. Or good ol' salt solution. But if they continue, see a gp or dentist.
I get loads and my GP prescribed me some hydrocortisone tablets which you place on the ulcer and let dissolve - it helps them heal much faster which has helped me manage. I'm on MTX and am just about to switch to jabs so I hope that helps!
Im on MTX injections and have recently struggled with mouth ulcers. My Pharmacist suggested Diflam spray which does help a little, but I found Corsodyl (although more painful) did have a better result.
I am considering telling my GP though next time I see her - will do if they dont go down by end of weekend.
Thanku for all the advice Im going to go to the docs cos they are really painful x
I went off mtx due to mouth ulcers and started sulfasalzine. And now mouth ulcers are worse. My rhuemy said sulfa doesn't cause them but you habe them to!
