My pink stick.
lol i have a blue and pink floral one but love your pink one, better than the hospital wooden ones which i was given at physio lol. What a lovely picture of you. :)) lena xxxxx
lovely, I just got a new fancy one for a wedding as mine is green paisley. I have a white one with tiny flowers on all in a reddy brownish colour. It's called English rose pattern. Much prettier for a wedding I thinks
My handle is different as its a fischer handle as i am having trouble holding as well. I have a wedding next week so it will come in useful for that.xx
i think im gonna have to accept that i need one xxx
I am so boring I bought a black one with ergonomic handle specially to support my left thumb. Trouble is I much prefer my hospital crutch to the stick, I feel a lot safer and steadier. Maybe getting too attached to it and reliant. Do they do fancy crutches?
Sorry forgot to mention I like the new you! xx
Its the same old me just in a dress!!
Liking that stick Sylvi so lovely to have you back xx
I agree with miss, it's lovely to have you back sylvi it feels like *home *
Loving the stick as well, must ditch the pride and get one !!
Beth xx
My brother keeps telling me to get one, so that i am not putting to much weight on my knees and ankles, I just don't want to feel defeated, That's my way of staying positive Syliv, Really glad you had a lovely break and it is really great to see your smiling face and that lovely pink stick, take care XXX
Ive got flowery sticks but I keep leaving them everywhere so got a regular order with amazon but since I got my new knee dont need it unless im doing lots of walking
like the pink one Syliv

I colour coordinate my walking aids too. I used to have three different sticks, but now I use crutches I have a black pair and a purple pair. I find the crutches much easier to use than sticks because the stick was putting too much pressure on my hands and arms. I didn't get along with NHS crutches though - they were far too hard on my arms, but I had an assessment at a disability aids place and ended up with these lovely crutches with moulded soft grips and they are great.
I hope you enjoy your new fashion accessory, and that it gets more comments on its colour (and questions about where you got it) than comments on illness.
Cool cane!!.......noice and summery....x
Very snazzy Sylvi - love the way it co-ordinates with the fringe! I went for a black and silver number so I can pretend it's a wand. Little things! x
Love the stick Sylvi and welcome back! I have a boring aluminium one but with the ergonomic handle as I can't grip so well. I'm interested to see people prefer crutches as I have been thinking for some time that a crutch would be easier to manage I think. Especially when in a shop and trying to get purse out and pay , I end up trying to balance stick against me or on the counter and it nearly always slides away and hits the deck with a clatter. At least with a crutch it's sort of attached to your arm!
Sylvia where did you get your pretty stick from may I ask?
JoJo xx
The shop is called ot stores, and the web address is otstores.co.uk and the phone no. is 08452607062. Ring them and ask for a brochure of what they sell. It might help if you tell them i saw them at the naidex exhibition and tell them my name mrs sylvia reynolds. It might get them some publicity. They are very good.xx
Thank you Sylvi I'll do that!
Interesting to hear you all say you're not quite ready to get a stick. I feel like that too! I went into a mobility shop at the weekend to try them out. First step. I could tell the difference straight away as my feet and ankles hurt so much from walking the day before. I had crutches following an operation but I noticed, when I progressed to just one, that it made my shoulder ache from moving back and forth whilst walking. A stick doesn't do that. You can get little attachments to stop them falling over when you lean it against a work top, or wrist straps to slip on when needing both hands.
Just a reminder to any folk buying their own sticks - it is very easy to cause yourself more damage by using them wrongly, so it at all possible please try to get a physio referral to show you how to properly use your stick for your particular needs. Even things like which hand you use it, or what height it is, can be easily got wrong if you don't totally understand how to use it properly to give you the support you need for your own body.
I wanted one with the arthritic hand top, but I also want to be able to change hands. They don't seem to come with changeable tops.
No sadly they don't,but you can get both hands and to be honest they are not that expensive nowadays.xx
Ive got a floral folding one, but when first bad used a set of walking poles!, pride i guess, but now im cool with the more ytsdional albeit folding one !
