Which bit of blood results are up & down? Is it the ALT? Or something else?
Yes the alt result,
Hi I'm on mtx tablets 17.5 mg and experiencing some ups and downs too.i have a retest nxt Thursday to check all ok? What is 179 if you don't mind me asking?my platelets are up and down take care Michelle x
The alt test is to do with liver isn't it?mtx can cause this alone so im told, its quite common for this to go,up and down,as long as it goes down again I think your safe on mtx.im glad they're keeping an eye on it.im sure someone else on here can give you more info.imthink if my platelets continue to decline I have to come off mtx too:(( it is such a shame when you are doing so well on mtx regarding joints etc,but have to come off it for another reason.i hope it sorts itself out love michelle xxx
If it's the ALT test then you probably wouldn't feel any different if it was raised as you don't usually know much about liver damage until it's happened, which is why we are tested regularly to make sure it doesn't happen (a raised ALT is more a warning sign, and livers are good at repairing themselves, so don't worry too much). Silly question, but your raised blood levels don't coincide with times when you've had a couple of drinks do they? Some people are very sensitive to the combination of MTX & alcohol and it doesn't take much to show up in blood tests. Polly
No been tea total since starting methotrexate, I'm ok but if I'm off it for a month or over I have a flare, it's happening every couple of months
Is everyone aware that there is such a thing as a patient held blood monitoring and dosage record book for Methotrexate treatment?
