Found this today and thought it may help some of you if you don't want to pay for an 0845 number for DWP - Benefits etc.

A quick reference the landline for DWP instead of dialling the "0845" is 01942 626 001, hope that helps

xx

Hi Fidget02,

I am with TalkTalk and I get my 0845 numbers free luckily. But thank you for the tip. :-)

Mmmm is that a genuine number?

Calls on 0845 to DWP are always charged at local rate and calls are free from some mobile numbers would that be case for this number... Did you mean if you want to get through direct rather than going through an automated system?

From some mobiles and Virgin Media you are charged for 0845.

I tried it yesterday and it worked.

I think it would only be cheaper to use that 01942 number if you were calling from a mobile.

This is great news Fidget.

This will help me. We get charged for 0845- which is premium rate for us. So thank you very kindly for sharing this - much appraciated xxxxxxxx
