Hi Brandylynn, I would say because smoking gives us absolutely nothing apart from disease/illness and not smoking gives you your lungs back and more money in your pocket :-)

Welcome to our community brandalynn03 - the correct mindset is vital in success to becoming and staying smoke free.

Joining this community and the desire to stop is the first step - you now need to get the mindset which you answered in your post with one word 'excited' - that is exactly it, embrace and get excited about stopping smoking - you are not quitting anything but gaining your freedom, life and health back by stopping. You know why you want to stop, so write it down and keep it in sight, set your stop date. We will be here to help in whatever way we can, you CAN do it.

Below is a pinned post worth a read if not already done so (have a read through all of the pinned posts as informative and helpful)

Messed up and tire my patch off past three days, smoked two this a.m. but back on track now. I might need up but at least I keep trying!

Brandalynn...To quote Roisin "the desire to stop is the first step" and you showed that...I wish I could express my experience by quitting in words.. but I can only promise that it is an amazing journey in rediscovering life the way it should be ...The quality of life after quitting is so good and once there you would never want to go back again...

Just give it a fair go and enjoy every new moment..!!

What worked for me, was replacing the smoking , with something else..something u can get passionate about..throw urself into , it can help u grow as well as move u away from smoking... for me that is running.. (u could check out the couch to 5k if you are new to running) .. but it could be anything you enjoy!! Reading! Become an expert in a subject..Or a specific craft that may interest you.. Any sport.. Perhaps volunteering at a local charity.. something to keep u focused elsewhere, that will also add a positive to how u feel about yourself:) good luck!!! 🍀
