Hey Nicole, see below post by Joe2   a couple of days ago...

"Still coughing up tar after 60 days

I started the coughing up of tar on Day 10 and continued until around 5 months, it is quite frightening when you start (if you start, some people don't cough up anything at all) as it does not look, feel or taste pleasant and is one thing that I never ever want to go through again.   It gradually eases as your lungs clear out.   Vaporizing a couple of nights and a spoonful of honey in the mornings can assist with clearing the mucous...

Nicole, I haven't had any coughing up of tar (so far). I did get coldy/flu-like symptons though in the first few weeks. That horrible feeling of aching everywhere and just wanting to crawl back to bed. I think that it is pretty standard. It does go after a while. I ended up taking loads of vitamins (particularly Vitamim D) and drinking lots of water which I think helped. Keep going and good luck!

I asked coz I'd seen the post about it. I have cold like symptoms so I thought it might be connected. Thanks for your help.

Cold like symptoms for the first 2 weeks or so are perfectly normal.   Increase your vitamin C intake, drink plenty of water and exercise a bit daily....

I never coughed anything up - not everyone gets that so don't worry if you don't

Nicole, a factor in if and when we get a productive cough is how long and how heavy we were smoking. Cilia, the lung's filters go dormant after prolonged smoking. So the more damage that was done, the greater the debris that needs to be expelled from our lungs.
