Day 1: Hey guys new to this . Today is day... - No Smoking Day
Day 1
Hi and welcome to the forum
and well done on deciding to quit
there are some threads around regarding Champix and how people have managed with using it if you look under the general section it should be there and help to stop section
also if you click on Quick Links in the tool bar across the top there and scroll down to social groups there is one in there for people that are using Champix
just try not to think to far ahead in your quit and just concentrate on one day one crave at a time and keep mind and hands busy till it passes which it will and they will get weaker too
i was always suffering with chest infections using an inhaler to help me breathe now i dont get them and i havent used an inhaler since i quit
the rewards of quitting are astonishing and the further along in your quit you get the more you will see
onwards and upwards is the way to go i look forward to seeing more of your posts
regards
Carol
Hi John,
Good luck with your quit. There have been scare stories about Champix for as long as there has been Champix. I can only tell you I have had a great experience with a successful 18 month quit using it. Side effects(for me) were just incredibly vivid dreams that I really missed when I came off the tablets.
Like an idiot I succumbed to the "just one won't hurt" myth - and I have recently had to go back to day one - again with Champix. I am currently on day 10 of no smoking with no ill effects from the tablets. I am however struggling with cravings as I only had a 14 day supply this time round and I don't want to ask for more from the Doctors (feel too ashamed about failed quit!)
There are people on here (or at least there used to be....) who strongly disagreed with the use of Champix and (IMO) overstated the "dangers" of the side effects. I would say do what ever it takes - see how you get on with them and if you have any concerns - go back to your Doctor/Nurse.
Good Luck and enjoy the dreams!!!
Exactly the same as showmeonthedoll. I had a great experience with Champix. The only side effects I had were nausea in the morning (could live with that) and ver vivid dreams (loved them). I believe I dont smoke today thanks to Champix. As previous advice says if at all worried see your doctor or practise nurse. Good Luck.
John, hope all is still going well...

Hi John
Can't advise on the Champix, but just wanted to say welcome and congrats on your decision to quit. Hope you're still going strong.

Hi John and Kerry, welcome. Visit here often and read lots of posts. Kerry, for me it has got easier gradually. I'm 7 weeks today and didn't think I could do it for an hour when I started. I'm amazed and never want to smoke again. I won't tell you it's easy but somehow it feels better knowing that so many people have done it
Just search the net for varenicline, champix, chantix and make up your own mind.
A forum like this will usually produce a small positive response simply because the post will be answered predominantly by those that successfully used it. There may be a negative post from someone who had a reaction to it but unsurprisingly anyone who died as a result won't be getting involved in the banter.
If you joined the 'chantix kills' forum expect a different reaction.
Youtube is quite funny, just not in that humorous way...
