Diary of a quitter - Day 3

Day 3, haven't caved in! Supposedly all the nicotine is out of my body now.

I'll tell you what, I really wanted to put some more in this morning. I was good though, went on a mad housework binge to take my mind off it. My place has never looked so clean and tidy, I even sorted out the garage!

I have stopped taking Champix. Last one was yesterday morning. The side-effects from the 1mg pills were just proving too much for me. Hope I haven't made a big mistake. I'm as determined as ever to stay off the ciggies and I Feel a lot better today for not taking those horrid pills. Still chewing through drinking straws :)

Onwards and Upwards

Fantastic Hodges, well done for getting through the wanna fag moment this morning!

I tell myself it's purely habit. Which actually it is!

No point in taking something that's making you feel bad. I'm sure having got this far you can carry on without. If not gum, inhalers, patches, and of coursenyour faithful straws help!

Ikea pencils are good too, just the right size, and even better ...free!

Wow!

I was going through some cupboards in my spare room, which serves as my office, looking for a bit of software.

Guess what I found?

A pristine looking big fat juicy roll-up, all ready and waiting for me! My hands actually started shaking, I started to sweat, and lick my lips and I couldn't take my eyes off it. My resolve went out of the window with frightening alacrity and I was gonna smoke. I'm drooling even now just thinking about it.

My wife saved the day. She grabbed it and flushed it down the loo before you can say "Have you got a light please"?

I learnt an important lesson today. I am not as strong-willed as I believed myself to be.

I really want to smoke right now. Perhaps I'll go tidy the garage again, or maybe I'll just curl up in the corner and cry.

Well done for not smoking it. I know your wife flushed it but you could have not let her.

You can totally stop the champix now without starting again, there are a couple of people on here who have done that and are still quit 4+ mths later.

Go clean something, take a walk, give your wife a big hug and say thank you just get your mind distracted from it.

Oh I would have smoked it, of that there is no doubt.

However, the crisis has passed, the smoke remained unsmoked, and I'm feeling quite good that I'm only a few hours away from hitting day 4.

Am making my world famous thai green curry tonight, all washed down with a beer or three.

I'm sure I won't smoke tonight, due in no small part to the presence of my ever supportive wife.

I have noticed my sense of smell and taste has changed. My morning gallon of coffee tasted and smelt nicer, I wonder how my tolerance for spicy food has been affected?

Hah! I'm a certified genius. I have discovered a cure for cravings!

Ingredients:

Several fresh green chillis, and other materials to make curry of choice.

Method:

Set mood with candles and wine.

Finely chop chillis, taking care to handle them extensively - for maximum effect, do not deseed.

Get caught short, and nip to loo whilst forgetting to wash hands beforehand.

Run around room screaming for 10 mins.

I guarantee you will not think about smoking.

Ha ha ha ... also works well with contact lens wearers as a great distraction. Fecking painful ... you have my full FULL sympathy.
