3 days to go: Started champix a week ago... - No Smoking Day
3 days to go
Hi there,
Try not to think of it as quittting smoking but escaping from the addiction & slavery that is smoking. If you go into it thinking it is going to be really hard you are making it worse before you start. Think of it as an exciting journey that you are about to embark on. Yes, those first few days can & probably will be tricky but don't set your mind to thinking it is going to be really dreafull or it will be!!
Try & do lots of reading in the run up to your 'escape' & try & get yourself into a more positive state of mind about it.
Good luck & we will all be here to help you.

Hi Lesley
It's only going to be hard if you think it will be.
The tablets shoud start to kick in soon, and you should find yourself wanting to smoke less and less.
I'm on Champix (only occaisionally now though) and they really do help. It isn't a miracle drug though, it doesn't stop you from smoking (just stops you wanting or feeling the need to smoke)....only you can do that.
Come on here any time you're feeling low, high, or just want to chat or tell us about your experiences. There's a lot of people here who can give you some very sound advice.
Read the posts on here, it may help you to know what to expect. And quite a few of the members (not me, I'm not internet savvy enough :D) have some excellent posts and threads.
Day 14 of Champix
Hi all
I am on day 14 of Champix and stopped smoking on day 9..
Today I have felt worse than ever, none stop crying all morning...I dont know whats up with me.
Just wondering as anyone else felt the same. ??
Is this normal ??
Today I am finding that I am having to stop myself constantly thinking of smoking..
Hope tomorrow better because dont think I can take another day like this.
Tracey
Hi Tracey, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad.
We all go through different things during this journey to freedom, I spent many an hour crying, shouting at kids and then crying again, shouting at OH and then crying again!
It does get better, I promise.
Stay strong, read the links, have a good cry (better that than a fag), go dance round your kitchen, eat chocolate, whatever it takes. Smoking is not the answer, it never was and it never will be.
Sending you some positive mental attitude and a big hug to get you through.
Thanks bev I am so so glad I didnt give in as i feel so much better now and have got the attitude of i am not smoking...just hope i get more sleep tonight and that tomorrows a better day.
Thank for the reply it really helps
Tracey
Got Champix yesterday
Hello,
Got Champix yesterday from the GP and will start taking on Monday 10th with a quit date of Monday 17th Jan. My GP advised that I should also attend a cessation clinic too for additional support but I am really not keen on the group therapy type thing!! At my workplace they are paying for weekly sessions with Boots who I believe use the replacement therapies and not sure if i would get the relevant support being on Champix - I really just want to do it on my own. What do you think, should I go along to the workplace sessions too? My sis, who gave up with Champix a number of years ago, suggested this forum as it really helped her so keeping my fingers crossed.
Any tips would be great

Statistically any quit method with support seems to be more successful that the same without.
The definition of 'support' however is quite open to interpretation.
