Well my wife gave up 8 weeks ago and how easy she thought it was, i on the other hand, am on this instead of working,(no consentration) i have a stinking cold (man flu) and would really like just one drag!!! but no, i know it would taste bad, i know it would make me feel like crap, so why do we still want it:mad: i really need to punch something:cool: I have a inhaler that i am using but only one of the cartridges per day, so pritty cold turkey.

Here is a query, and this has happend before in one of the many times i have given up.

When i go to bed at night, i will be just dropping off to sleep, and bang my body jumps (you know, falling of a curb type thing) and i get realy dizzy behind the eyes and across the forhead. only happens as i just fall asleep and stops as soon as my eyes open.

Weather it is becuase i have a stinking cold combin this with missing Nic. Just seems wierd to have it happen when i go cold;)

Roll on day 3/4/5/6/7/ ect i've had enough today

I know how you feel - I am only at day 4 and for the first couple of nights - I would break out in a sweat. That now seems to be over but I still have shortness of breath. It is driving me crazy. At least I am so focused on that, that I forget about wanting a smoke :)

Just hang in there - things will get easier and remember why you are quitting.

I know its really difficult in these earliest days, when all you want to do is really let off steam in a big way.. and you sigh pretty much all day long.. you seem to overconcentrate on things.. mind wanders, then focuses on the very thing you are giving up.. and then its a battle to distract yourself from that to get back to normality.

So yeah, i have been there, many many of us have, and luckily despite how crappy you feel right now, it doesn't stay like this.. yeah you may have some days of this yet, but don't fear it, just take this a day at a time and hopefully get a really good nights sleep too. if your sleep is affected then thats only a short term problem which normalises too.

Things WILL get better, they really will, and the feelings you got now will be replaced with more hope and well being to help you on your way.

I had to reply to this as last night I brought on a panic attack with these jolts in the night!

I lay in bed and got almost like a pulse throughout my whole body, not painful just strange and made me wake completely up. I wasn't asleep or falling in my dream, I was still awake when this happened and it occurred about 20 times. Really freaked me out. I'm hoping it was all to do with my body adjusting but boy was is odd!

must be something to do with the nic withdraw, i must agree with you it is a bit freeky, but sure it will be worth it in the end,

good luck Loiusejane xx

Hi guys,

From an ex confirmed smoker who loved smoking etc etc, I can promise you if you hang in there, it gets a lot easier.

Also, after years of suffering insomnia on and off, the past 7 weeks have been great in terms of sleep since giving up. I actually sleep through the night rather than waking up constantly. Apparently, the waking up is due to the brain wanting its fix of Nicotine!

It's true that the first 3 days are the worst, especially if you are going CT like I did, after which, it gets easier.

I would say after 6 weeks, you will feel fantastic, and never ever want to go back to smoking that expensive filth.

I look at smokers now and pity them, as they suck on it with the same need as a baby sucking a dummy.

Remember, its not your fault that you still crave fags or that its harder for some people to give up, you are chemically addicted to it, and it takes some time to get used to being a non-smoker, but you were non-smokers once, and you will be again!
