Hey guys, first time giving up seriously. i made half arsed attempts before like, but i've actually put serious thought into this time, made a list of pros and cons and set a quit date ect.
Gave up on the 23rd of June 2008 lol not exactly the longest time. But i'm still crawling up the walls.
Just a little bit about me, 17, started smoking at 14 because of peer pressure, and now i'm regretting that day so so much, as most of us are.
I've only got this far because of my girlfriend. Shes been so supportive leading up to it, and again over the last three days, but i feel like a fool because i've snapped at her like. Anyway, anyone have any words of wisdom for a teen who started smoking because he thought it was cool?

You are doing the right thing. Smoking almost killed me when I was 18 so I strongly recommend you quit now. I used to think it wouldn't happen to me, I'd get a warning sign, it only happens when you have smoked for many years. I was 18 and smoked for two years, and I literally just passed out one day and spent the next year in and out of hospitals.
Stay focused, and just think of that whenever you feel tempted.
Don't tell me about half hearted attemps, I am maybe the queen of em! To quit you have to want to and that is the main ingredient, the secret if you like, once you decide that you WANT to stop half the battle is won,
Set you quit date, decide itf you are going cold turkey or using some form of NRT, sign up to everything you can relating to stopping and read what you can, Look on it as a battle if you like between you and nico - you have to kill him before he kills you.
i'll be looking at this site every day methinks. i really want to give up this time, for my own health, but for the sake of my friends and family, and i just read some of those articles on the 'whyquit' website and my god.....i cried, i really did.
There are no benefits to smoking, so why the hell do i feel like a fag!?
I spent a lot of time on the whyquit website in the past, unfortunatley I could not face my quit alone and used champix BUT - whyquit has been a bible of inspiration for me - whatever and however you quit - who cares - so long as the end result is the same
Stay focused on your goal mate. Read as much as you can, there are links littered around this place, and theres always people here to rap with on smoking. Its a good diversion tactic to post here about smoking rather than actually doing it. Dont worry, try to embrace it as the best thing you can do.
