Hi my name is SharBiz and I am 67 and I have just been diagnosed with 3rd stage kidney failure. I had kidney cancer and they took my right kidney, that was in 1998 and I've been fine since. As of last week I was sent to a Nephrologist and was told that when they removed my kidney that put my functioning number at 50 and now it is 37. This week I have been experiencing itching all over and this morning I woke up with a rash on my upper torso, front and back. Not sure if this is from my kidney or something else. Has anyone else dealt with this issue. Thank you...

Newly diagnosed with 3rd stage renal failure and have a question.
Hi
I had my right kidney removed too. At 37 egfr, you still have lots of kidney function.
It is possible that this itching is totally unrelated and a trip to your doctor would be my suggestion.
Stage 3 is not supposed to have symptoms according to many doctors but it does....and dealing with the symptoms helps enormously.
I deal with that 'kidney itch' by having a nice warm bubble bath, a good scrub at the affected areas....with me it's my legs......and a nice soothing cream to stop any dryness after the bath....works a treat! Hoping you find the cause....M
My husband had itching for many years over his torso like Mgt8 said many doctors say you dont get symptoms not true some people do some dont! my husband uses E45 anti itch he says its the only thing that helps! he has been on dialysis for 7 years now but was a stable stage 3 for at least 15/16 years that we know of x
I agree with Phillip. Before I was diagnosed and my GFR was in the 50s and I had terrible itching. Especially on the palms of my hands. When I got my salt intake down and diet better under control it went away. I also have occasional slight swelling and flank pain and fatigue all of which you aren't supposed to have at my stage. I think everyone is different and some people are just more sensitive.
