Glaucoma and kidney disease

I have posted before on my diagnosis of glaucoma in January. Since then like most of you I have done my Google research on medications and treatments and how they will interact with my transplant. The first thing I noticed is that most glaucoma medications are not kidney friendly particularly if your kidney function is not in the normal range with a transplant. Then you are faced with a priority question which is more important your eyes or your kidneys? The next thing I noticed is that there is a correlation by some studies between kidney disease and glaucoma. So as kidney diseases cases rise so will cases of glaucoma. And in both cases they are silent meaning you are really not aware until you are at a somewhat serious point. So with transplant patients like me there is a balancing act not only in treatment but with doctors. Eye doctors and kidney dictators rarely communicate. I hear time, and again, what you put in your does not really affect the rest of the body and how it functions. As if our body is separated like our medical industry with specialists and fewer general practices every year. But big business is far more aware and you see an increase in products for eyes and kidneys popping up almost more often than fast food and sugar products. Which is ironic since this is the source of the problem. So my posting is in some way a call of frustration in making important decisions about my treatment and frustration with a medical and business society that is creating a future world that may have its limitations even with great medical discoveries. We may live longer but the quality of life may be worse with more diabetes, çancers , and heart issues. We seem to create a domino affect. Big business products that cause disease and then produce medications to temper that disease and that product produces another health problem and so on and so on. My eye infection was caused by pollution due to the fires up north. I was given eye drops which produced steroid glaucoms and then given eye drops which caused chaos with my blood pressure or harm to my kidneys. I ended up at the emergency room twice to have both checked out . Fine for now but there is tomorrow. What treatment do you take next to solve the ones that you could not solve before and what doctor really has the right answer to keep your body balanced? And most of all am I the only one feeling frustrated?

I understand your frustration...I am on Dialysis and was diagnosed with Open Angle Glaucoma....My Optomologist used Lasers to help keep my pressures down and it was very effective...I also had cataracts so when he removed those he also put tubes in my eyes( under my eyelids so not noticeable) to keep the fluid off my optic nerve...There really are quite a few treatments for glaucoma these days...that was almost a year ago...so far so good. Go find a reputable Optomologist and discuss your options
