Hi! My hubby is also on blood pressure meds (metoprolol), 50 mgs, following his transplant. His team tried to switch him to others, but he feels best on metoprolol so, over time, he returned to it. When introducing new blood pressure meds, sometimes it takes a while for the body to respond. This may be happening to you. But it's best for you to discuss your latest findings with your team - perhaps including a cardiologist. You're in a delicate situation since you're in the middle of transitioning to a new set of immunosuppressants. I hope you experience a smoother life soon.

I have been having issues with high blood pressure too and started with 5mg of Amlodipine but my blood pressure continued to increase to 178/ 97. It was then upped to 10mg and has gone down to 120/82 which is perfect…thank goodness! It’s taken a while to get to that reading and I’m hoping that no long term damage has been done to my graft! I hope you manage to get your pressure sorted and everything settles down for you!

You might inquire about Atenolol. My daughter was on amlodipine pre-transplant, and it wasn’t helping afterward. (She is on envarsus XR, prednisone and mycrophenolate.) Switched to atenolol and her BP is back in normal range, and it does great for her heart rate, too. Good luck. It can be exhausting trying to balance everything out, but keep reminding yourself that’s it’s so you can feel the best YOU can—which isn’t a one protocol-fits-all solution. Hang in there … for yourself.

Hi parkerbarker. I am 30 months post transplant. My bp was similar 135 - 145. Medication always messed me up so I stopped all bp meds. My bp is still 135 - 145 and I don’t have to suffer side effects. Sometimes we get over medicated I think but everyone has choices !!

Yes. Doxososin, Losartan Potassium, Carvedolol. I take all of them and my body is finally under. O troll. A Lodi pine did not work for me.

Btw keep plugging along. I feel and have had your frustration but transplant is 100 times better than dialysis believe me. Keep the faith! Best of luck to you in your journey.🙏

wow terrible misspelling. Sorry about that. My bp is finally under control. Ask your doc to try something else. Amlodipine did not work for me and the side effects are not good.I had terrible swelling in my legs, ugh. All of that is gone now. Well worth switching to different bp meds.
