Hi, does anyone have real low blood pressure after the transplant? Mine was never high to begin with. It is now low, and I feel horrible. They gave me something. I think it was called Flurinef. I forget the name. I couldn't take it. Gave me migraines. Midodrine is out of the question. The team tells me to keep eating more salt.

Does anyone have low blood pressure after transplant?
My husband who had a 2nd transplant in late 2018 has same issue. He did not have that issue after his 1st transplant and drs felt it was due to impact of adrenal gland during surgery as it sits above the kidney. My husband had an original kidney removed this time before new one was put in. He was very faint for weeks post surgery due to low pressure. They had prescribed Florinef as well and lots of fluids and dietary salt. It helped but the florinef kept him up all night and made him crazy euphoric. He stopped florinef after a few wks. He has persistent low pressure which is good for the facts that he no longer needs blood pressure meds and hopefully the lack of hi pressure will help preserve new kidney. It is worrisome. How long ago was your transplant?
Alimesoda, thanks so much for your response. I am so sorry your husband had to go through that. They also gave me Florinef, and that gave me migraines. It is great your husband no longer needs blood pressure meds. I am one of the odd ones who never needed blood pressure meds before or after transplant. I had mine 3 years ago. Salt, caffeine, etc does not work too well. I feel fatigued from it, but of course it is better than dialysis. I hope your husband stays well, and thanks so much for your response.
My situation is the opposite. Six year transplant recipient, and I still struggle with high blood pressure and take medication. Of course, I may be guilty with my diet since it was so fun to eat more foods that I had been restricted to. I'm jealous you get to eat MORE salt!!
You are right— it may have a lot to do with diet and lifestyle. 0325 - curious if you have lost significant weight since your transplant?
My husband has lost +50 lbs since his transplant by improving diet (what he eats) and behaviors (how much he eats and drinks). We are all very fortunate to have transplants change our lives. Take care 0325 and chattycat!
I lost about 13 pounds, but only because of a stressful situation I went through, but was glad to lose it. I am small to begin with, so that was enough to lose. That is wonderful that he lost so much weight (if he needed to) Yes, I agree we are very fortunate. You take care too.
I am so sorry you still struggle with high blood pressure. It is funny you say you are jealous that I get to eat more salt. I HATE EATING MORE SALT! LOL It is hard for me.
Hello.
My first transplant, I needed blood pressure meds to lower my blood pressure. Now, I have low blood pressure and constantly take pinches of salt to ward off anxieties, shakiness, and confusion. My doctor keeps telling me to eat salty and lots of korean bbq..what is your blood pressure lvl?
Today it is 90/ 59. I am feeling horrible. Does the pinches of salt help you? I have tried everything, and not much helps me. Today I feel lots of confusion. I was told that the drugs we take for transplant can also cause confusion and forgetfulness. What is your blood pressure level? Thank you for responding.
New to the site so I know this is 8 months old. Have your doc look into Northera. Tom
Thanks. I never heard of that.
