Looking for other mommas!

My son received a kidney transplant in February. Since then he has had such terrible awful behavior, and I am more than burned out. Any other mommas out there with any experience/advice!?

How old is he?

He is 12. He has pretty significant developmental delay, however. He is delayed to around 5-6. He has very limited speech but does use some sign. I’m afraid some of this may also be puberty? But have no idea how to navigate these waters :/

What is the dose of Prednisone that he is on? It can cause quite the mood swings and “roid-rage”. I suffered with crying and anger moments until I got down to 5mg of Prednisone. I have an 11 year old son (not a kidney patient- I am). Some could be hormones and some could be the meds.

Speak to his transplant team. They may be able to adjust meds or dosage.

Good luck!

It may be chemical but don't rule out seeing a child therapist. And maybe one for yourself. It sounds like this may not be a short term problem. Take care and know that others care.
