My transplant was on March 12th. For the past month, I have been hot at work when everyone else is fine. Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it the drugs? Or something else?

I go hot after I've taken the medication it drives me mad . And at night after the night time dose sleeping is terrible its like I'm on fire hope you get sorted 👍
Your kidneys are part of what controls body temperature, so it's natural that you'd be burning up when everyone else is okay.
Thanks. I have a fan at work and it’s been getting a work out. I would not say this is as bad as a hot flash, just uncomfortable hot. The fan is working for me.
Glad you are doing well.
Congrats on your Life Saving Transplant!!Your experiencing a common side-effect of your immunosuppressant meds. Are you taking prednisone? That one has a lot of side effects all on it's own. Your body will eventually adjust to your new meds. I am 21+ years post transplant and still continue to have problems sleeping at night. I figure it is a small price to pay for LIFE!
Best of luck to you! My side effects lessened around the 6 - 8 months out from my transplant.
Our red blood cells live for 120days, hence , may expect almost new cells in 7-8 months (usually quicker when people donate blood 2x a year) dead cells go to the spleen. it will take an initial 6-8 (up to 12) wks to feel good improvement , and 7-8 months to feel really well.
Your body accumulated toxins for more than 20yrs- it needs time to cleanse it. the post-op gastro , whilst unpleasant, i will consider a "good thing" because the body threw away a lot of toxic stuff - urea and nitrogen- which can be discharged only via pee n poop.
So, during that transition times you will fell a few unusual "side effects" of the cleansing. I had my transplant just a month ago and I have a few of these unusual side effects (itchiness, hot flashes, balls getting 2-3X, diarrhea, gout attack, etc.). They go away in a few day. The important thing is to watch them and make sure if they persist consult your nephrologist (to distinguish what are temp vs permanent). And gradually change your diet, in consultation with your doctor. Some of the food that are now allowed can cause adverse effect on other conditions. Example: the hospital gave me a menu that included lobster, bakes beans, mushroom - I've tried a little bits here and there (never ate them in the last ten years) and I've had a gout attack.
Now, I am taking everything slowly - feeling my body first before I make any adjustment on my diet, lifestyle and activities/exercise.
Take care, be well.
Congratulations on your new kidney. I was hot sweaty and cold at the same time. I never got an answer as to why, but things calmed down when I switched from Athizaprine to Mycophenolate. It still happens, but not as badly. Prednisone is a contributing factor. It is frustrating.
