Hi!

My sister 4 weeks ago had a double transplant kidney and liver.

Her Creatine levels go up and down, and today it went to 90!

Has anyone else had this issue, post kidney transplant?

Look forward in hearing your feedback!

Regards,

Concerned Sister

My husband had some complications post transplant. His creatinine went up to 9.8. They just watched it. It took about 3 months to get back to 2 which is where it stays. We are 3 years post transplant. Prayers for your sister.

Although worrisome, my creatinine was real erratic the first couple of months, and then settled down. Now I am almost 19 years post transplant and my creatinine has been very stable.

My transplant was in 19990 and mine continues to go up and down too between 1.2 to 2 Rarely does it go past 2 or 2.2 I've been told and I've also been diagnosed with Neoral (Cyclosporine) Toxicity and supposedly that can cause fluctuating creatinine levels. Some other Immunosuppressants can do it too from what I've read. Last Neoral trough reading for me was too high so they are checking it again in July so if it is too high. I've been told they are going to either stop it completely and / or switch me to something else if it is. Other things other than drugs can cause it too.

Check your number 90 isn't correct; a Creatine number of like 2.8 is failure stage 5. I'm six years into post transplant and my Creatine goes between 1.9 and 2.6 which is about 24% to 18% working. The kidney I received was extended and was at end of life. I was to get one year out of it, but yet I'm still going with 6 years and very blessed with that. I'll pray for your sister but have them look at the number, maybe it was another version than we all know. Keep us posted as we pray for your sister. I will state my kidney didn't work for about 5 weeks after they transplanted it, it was what they call a sleepy kidney meaning it wasn't dead but it didn't work. So I lived at a hotel and went to the hospital for dialysis for about 4 weeks. Then it did wake up and start working. They did a bunch of biopsies during that time. My advise, just ask a bunch of questions and keep on the doctors and nurses. They will tell you but you need to ask.
