I will be one year with my new blessed kidney on November 26. I have had 2 rejections and countless surgical procedures mostly due to a narrowing of the ureter causing a backflow of urine from my bladder to my kidney and causing my kidney to swell. After several stent replacements, 2 unsuccessful balloon angioplasties, and 2 nephrostomy bags (ugh) to reduce the swelling, it has been determined that I need to have reconstructive surgery and cut off the narrowed part of the ureter, move my bladder up closer to my kidney and reattach the ureter and bladder. I will be in the hospital for 3 to 4 days and was wondering if anyone has had anything like this done. I don't' know what to expect for the recovery time and am thinking it will be similar to the kidney transplant which was a pretty challenging recovery.
