Stay positive and notice your patterns

Hi All,

I am 5 months post 2nd kidney transplant. Being in London and under the care of an excellent hospital, it is absolutely necessary to be getting bloods done in such an early stage. I am at least fortnightly presently and needed to go back today after just one week as having a recent biopsy due to rising creatinine, we found there was some tac toxicity. It is a key balancing act and hence certainly in the first 12 months, tac levels need to be monitored. I understand everyone's situation will be unique, but there has been a case of a kidney transplant patient in China with the virus and he has recovered fine. The more you go into fear, the more your physiological and psychological states will be impacted. This time in the world is one of great change and a reminder to humanity of what is really important in life. Our kidneys are so precious, so continue to take good care of yourselves and check in with your own renal units about what protective measures they are taking.

The only person in the whole unit this morning is the nurse, so I felt completely safe. I walked the 8 mile trip to keep active and to minimise exposure on public transport. The renal unit has put in processes such as we enter the back entrance so no real exposure to people beyond the safe 2 metres, hand washing on arrival and the nurse has mask on. The global situation is simply amplifying our patterns and it is an invitation to notice and reflect and just take it day by day. I guested on a recent podcast with Dr Polyvios as along with specialising in kidneys (I am a nutritionist and yoga teacher) I also specialise in medic wellbeing. Everyone is in this together. Fiona (the nurse) had about 15 people on her list today for bloods and they have allocated specific slots so I was literally in and out in less than 15 minutes. Any doc calls are done over the phone.

Do listen to the podcast as I also reference some simple tools such as breathing (6/6) breath to cultivate calm. One day at a time. We will emerge from this stronger.
