I was told to watch out for a fever over 101, pain around the transplant site, sudden fluid weight gain, decreased urine output, or a large jump in creatinine level. You might have just one or all these. Best to contact your transplant team if you are concerned.

PAIN, along with, Sensitivity around the Transplant Sight, Excessive - continual- Thirst, feeling 'Unwell'- more like 'Half Dead'.... To name a few Symptoms.

Less severe 'things' include just Not Feeling Right, Dizziness, Itching ( you know about This.), Sickness and Either Diarrhoea, or awful Constipation (Will you ever know about this!). You will Bruise easily, from the slightest 'Thing'.

Blood Test, will reveal, your Phosphate, Potassium, Urea and Creatinine levels 'All Over The Place'.

Hello chicago17, My spouse had his transplant Nov2018 and Feb 22,2019 from a needle biopsy it was confirmed he was in rejection. For about 2 weeks prior his 2-3 times a week blood labs showed creeping up creatinine from 1.8 to 2.3. He had low grade rejection and in hospital 5.5 days on steroid IV drip and prednisone in high doses oral when he went home. Prior to this on 2/11 he had his first ever cyst in his kidney burst and bleeding/clotting in his urine and that ended 2/20 and he was feeling better. The transplant doctors are not sure, but think this cyst burst caused his new kidney to reject. No way to be sure. My spouse has genetic PKD (polycystic kidney disease). If you are concerned, contact your transplant center. I wish you great health.

The first symptom of rejection..... the usual first sign is a rise in your creatinine. This is one you may not even be aware of. That's why at first you have renal labs done so often, so that the first sign can be caught. When caught early, it can be reversed.

A lot of times a fever over 101 can be a sign of infection that can lead to rejection.

My first year I started running a 101 temp and was admitted back to the transplant center. My creatinine was fine, but was put on IV antibiotics for CMV

I was told by my transplant doctor that I wound not know about a rejection except if my bloodwork showed my creatnine bouncing around. I had 3 rejections in the first 1&1/2 years & I never had any symptoms until my bloodwork & biopsy showed rejection. The first time I was in the hospital for 4 days. The next 2 times it was out-patient w/ heavy steroids. Had transplant in 2012. GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS
