I am a newbie. I'm 49 years old with CKD stage 4. I've just got on the waitlist for kidney transplant and it might be 5 years for blood type B.

Hi! I am type B as well! Being such i guess is rare. Great for giving.. not for needing. I was on unos for 2 yrs. I received my kidney from my mother's friend because no one in my family matches me. My dad is AB mom is A and all my siblings are A.. I took the B from my dad go figure. But just stay strong!! And push through! Don't give up your day will come and when it does it will be amazing! I'll pray for you

I am type O and was told it would take me approx 7 yrs do I used this source and an altruistic donor came forth in just a few weeks & we transplanted several months thereafter. That was just over 2 yrs ago and I’m doing great.

Our Bible Study International leader in Richmond, VA (healthy male age 50) donated a kidney to a 72 year-old wife of a member. Saw the husband of the recipient wife this past Monday (we meet Monday evenings). She is doing well, now tapering off of certain meds. Believe she'll still need to take an anti-rejection med. In total, 12 people across the nation were involved in this exchange. I am a 78 year-old male in excellent health (for my age). Female recipient had been on periodialysis. One year after my bladder was removed due to cancer in Feb. 2015, urologists at M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, detected a cancer related to the type of BC I had in my right ureter/kidney. Only remedy for this type of kidney cancer was surgical removal (2016). I am now CKD 4 with an eGFR of 27-29. Next week, at the 18-month follow-up point, I will have a loopogram of my left ureter/kidney. Because (as a CKD4) I can't have a CT with contrast, my urologist believes the loopogram is the best tool to see if I have cancer in my left ureter/kidney. I realize that I am at greater risk than most other CKD4 patients to develop cancer in my remaining kidney. Should I need to go on hemodialysis, I'm not sure if I would seek a live transplant like my friend's wife. I like to keep on top of the subjeect. For instance, I have visited a DaVita dialysis center, taken their Kidney Smart one-day seminar, and use this site to keep me informed.

I am blood type b- & I waited 21/2 years on dialysis. Got a deceased donor kidney from a 36 yr. old woman almost 6 years ago. Keep your head up & hang in there
