Good morning all, has anyone had a baby after receiving their new Kidney? If so, did they consider you high risk, were you out in bed rest at anytime, etc. My husband and I were blessed to have our first child while on dialysis. They put me on bed rest in the hospital at 23 weeks until she was born. They had me seeing a specialist along with my OBGYN. Just wondering if that might happen again since I’m no longer on dialysis.

having a baby while on dialysis is close to miracle.. you were blessed that much.. i would recommend not trying it again, just care for your new kidney and be there for your daughter

I had my transplant at age 23 and had a baby at age 30. Yes it was considered high risk because I had a transplant but I did great. My obgyn said I had a healthier pregnancy than many women. My kidney stayed strong and healthy. My daughter is now 16 and very healthy. She is very intelligent and taking college classes in high school. I would recommend getting all of your blood work checked first and meet with an obgyn specialist before getting pregnant.
My doctor told me, if I wanted to get pregnant, let him know first and we would work together for my health and the baby.
