Hi Everyone, I could use your help. I'm coming up on my 2 year 10/10/2018 anniversary as a part of a chain which started at UCLA. My part was being a donor at NYP Weill Cornell where my kidney went to Boston MGH. My NY and CA people have all met. My recipient in Boston is a 38 YO B blood type male who doesn't speak English. Despite numerous attempts and a letter we're not making a connection. The Boston donor's kidney was flown on to Seattle 10/11/2018. We would all like to know the other people involved and what happened. On the rare chance anyone knows something about this chain we would all appreciate any information. In the meantime, everyone stay safe and well.

Hi Vegiedonor - what an amazing thing, to give your kidney and be a part of a chain making the impact even bigger! I don't have any information on those in that chain but you may want to share this post in the transplant community as well: healthunlocked.com/nkf-kidn.... Best of luck in connecting everyone!
I’ve known my recipient since he was 12 years old. He was 22 when we did the surgery. He’s 31 now and I haven’t heard from him in almost 8 years. For some reason sometimes the recipients just kind of want to forget about us I guess. I’m sorry you two haven’t connected.
FYI. I’m currently in stage 3 CKD so I’m sure I won’t be hearing from anyone. I kind of wish I never did it. It seems I value others more than I’m valued if I’ve learned anything over the years.
Thanks for sharing. It's hard to understand why some recipients can't take the time to say thank you. Part of the problem is society itself and the medical community not willing to do anything more beyond getting paid. Sorry about your CKD. My daughter has a friend with CKD who was headed straight to dialysis under her doctors typical instructions. We diverted her away from that path by having her talk to a nutritionist and change her diet. Just another example of the medical community not caring and unwillingness to get educated which in turn harms us with bad advice. Be well and don't regret helping someone.
As a donor, you are entitled to move right to the top of the list if you get to the point of needing a new kidney....so, please make use of this avenue if and when you are in need. Hope this helps. God bless you for being a donor. I guess I am blessed....my recipient thanks me every day, and I am so happy I did it.
