Hey I’ve got good I’ve applied to be an alterisric kidney donor I’ve got my first appointment in March just wondering how long does the operation take roughly

Depends on the center and the type of procedure but most are in the 2-3 hour range. You will get all of that information as you progress in your journey.

Again it depends on the center. Lots of things go into it like your blood type along with the results of a couple days of testing. I was a directed donor and it was 2 months from initial test to donation day. From others going through this the average time is around 5 months.

Well done on your decision to be an altruistic donor. I donated to a complete stranger in July 2016. From my initial testing to surgery date was about 6 1/2 months. I had a small window of when I could donate due to work, etc., so once approved, I was able to set a general date to donate. It worked out perfectly. My surgery was about 3 hours and recovery about 6 weeks.

That's great Matthew. I hope you make it through the screening. Not sure about the length of surgery. However, I've read donors heal much faster than recipitents
