Hmm, I'm not sure but I think Gabapentin is sometimes prescribed for pruritus. I don't personally suffer from it but it's very common in dialysis patients.

Check your labs. Whenever any of the electrolytes are off, people report bouts of itching. Oftentimes, it's potassium thats too high. For me, it's either that or phosphorus. Hope you can find get some help. I'm reluctant to take benadryl orally because I get restless leg syndrome from it, but I do keep a tube of benadryl gel I'm the fridge to rub on areas whenever the itching in unrelentless.

You're lucky to be able to take meds like that. Anytime i take any new meds or supplements, my gfr goes down. So, it's a worry. Good luck with finding some itch relief.

I am post transplant with itchy and flaky skin. I got it under control by using Cera Ve for itch relief. I ordered it from Amazon because Osco didn’t have it.

Wow. Will look into that. I've tried Cera Ve lotion for dry skin and didn't get any good results, but my skin is shot on my arms and legs and I don't think anything will help. Always return to my St.Ives lotion with collagen that I've used for years. But, will try the anti itch one soon. Thanks for this info.

Sometimes it's hard to get relief of any sort. Gabapentin didn't work for hubby when he was on dialysis. Instead, I sprayed Dermaplast on my hubby's shoulders and back and that worked better. And then, if he still didn't get enough relief, he would take child sized Zyrtec (per doctor's suggestion). That little tablet worked well. We really need to make transplants possible for everyone or significantly improve dialysis. That's the best fix of all.
