hello: new hemo dialysis patient. just... - Kidney Dialysis
hello
A couple of questions. When are you doing your dialysis? When I do it in evening I have trouble sleeping so have adjusted to mostly mornings (I am a home dialysis patient). Are you restless or is something keeping you awake? Bladder problems or worry? May want to give it time and let your body adjust to a new routine. If you are like me I am a creature of many habits and any changes can affect my sleep patterns. Or simply schedule naps during the day for a while if possible.
I agree with everything REVray said.....dialysis can be very tough on the body, it literally wipes most people out because of how taxing it is, so you shouldn't have trouble sleeping. However, like REVray said, you body could need time to adjust. Follow REVray's advice, and talk to your Nephro about it. Your mind could be very active at night for some reason. Hope you get rest soon, and continue to reach out !!! Also, try relaxation methods as well. Teas ( mind dietary restrictions of course ), make sure you have dark curtains in case you may need to sleep during the day.....melatonin increases when darkness is increases, thats the only way our bodies know its time to sleep, whenever that may be. Hope this helps !!
I had trouble to sleep when i did my dialysis at evening, i need about 7 hours to winding down then i can go sleep. so i changed back to do mid-shift.
